Brunts school leader joins national attainment programme

Carl Atkin, head of school at the Brunts Academy is one of just 18 new head teacher ambassadors chosen by the Achievement for All 3As charity, which runs the Achievement for All schools’ programme.

All the ambassadors have significant experience of running the programme in their own schools and their role will be to share their knowledge with other schools interested in raising the attainment of their own disadvantaged pupils.

The programme is now supporting 1,900 schools across England to improve the attainment of vulnerable and disadvantaged children in reading and writing and maths.

Coaches work with schools to develop a tailored programme of observation, coaching, professional development and challenge - focusing on developing and supporting strong leadership, rigorous tracking of pupils, good teaching and removing barriers to children’s learning.

Building strong relationships with parents is a major element of the programme, organisers said.

Carl said: “The hard work and effort of all staff at The Brunts Academy towards securing the very best for all our young people means that I am now able to work with others to develop the most effective practice to ensure achievement for all.

“This has always been a team effort and I am proud to represent The Brunts Academy in this new role and look forward to seeing the impact it has on further improving future learning opportunities for students nationally”
