Martin Heartfield, deputy head at Brunts Academy, said with the annual golf tournament in its 21st year, the academy hopes to raise more money than ever to support Mansfield’s young people.

He said: “We set up this annual event for the centenary of the school to bring together businesses, the local community and the school to raise money for good causes.”

This year the school will be donating the full amount raised to Fountaindale Special School to help purchase equipment for new performing arts buildings that open later this year at the school.

Mr Heartfield added: “Last year we donated £1,000 from the golf day to Fountaindale but this year we want to support them further and donate all the proceeds.

“They will need specialist equipment for the new buildings so we want to help support that.

“We look forward to the day, which has been supported by Coxmoor Golf Club for the past few years as they always make us feel so welcome.”
