Brides left without a dress for their big day after Mansfield bridal shop closes suddenly

Elizabeth Morley, known as Morley’s, on Leeming Street, closed suddenly on Tuesday, July 31, after a sign was placed in the window informing customers of the closure.

However, no further information was provided – leaving some customers who have bought dresses in the dark about their purchases.

Bride-to-be Louise Mann, 46, is engaged to marry Brian Kynman, but they are yet to set a date.

Louise said: “I brought my dress from the shop more than a year ago and I left it there, because we had to postpone our wedding.

“I paid for it in cash and I went in a few months ago to make sure she was still happy to keep it for me and she never mentioned anything about closing. I just want to know where the dresses have gone. Someone must know something. I can’t believe this has happened.”

Following the closure, other bridal shops in the area have offered to help anyone affected, including Cherished Wedding Boutique, on Newgate Lane, and And I Do Bridal Boutique, on Queen Street.

A post on Cherished’s Facebook page said: ”We understand some brides might be needing help regarding dresses. We have been in touch with some of the designers Morley’s had and will try to help where we can.”

Trading standards officers at Nottinghamshire County Council said customers affected should contact the Citizens Advice on 03454 040506.
