Fearless Alex Webster has decided to take on the adrenaline packed challenge with the backing of Mansfield’s Career Office for a cause close to her heart.

“I have quite a few family members and friends who serve in the Armed Forces and I thought if I am going to do something as crazy as this I want to do it for a cause close to my heart.

“If I can jump for them it is so much more worthwhile,” She said.

Alex, who works as a StreetScene administrator for North East Derbyshire District Council, is aiming to raise £500 for Help For Heroes.

The charity aims to deliver an enduring national network of support for wounded soldiers and their families.

Alex added: “It is something I have always wanted to do so I thought I would do it for charity.

“I know I am mad but I have always wanted to sky dive.

People in the Armed Forces spend a lot of time helping others and don’t seem to get much credit for the sacrifices they make.

“I want to try and help raise money for them with a sponsored sky dive.”

Alex is hoping to take the 18,000 ft leap at the start of August from Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire.

“My colleagues have been really supportive and sponsored as much as they can but I am appealing to people to support me and help those in the Armed Forces.”

The 18-year-old has family and friends who are currently serving flood hit areas of the country.

Alex said: “My mum was going to do the jump with me but changed her mind and instead said she will fly up with me and push me out the plane.

“I am so excited and don’t feel nervous at all. It is an adventure.”
