Boy, 16, hospitalised after being bitten in the face by '˜fat' Staffordshire bull terrier in Mansfield

The dog owner walked away from the scene without offering any help or leaving any details.

The boy was taken to the King’s Mill Hospital following the incident in Dunwoody Close, Mansfield, on Saturday, November 26.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “Fortunately the boy’s injuries were minor but could quite clearly have been serious.”

Officers are appealing for help tracing the dog owner.

He is described as a white man, well-built and in his 50s, between 5ft 10ins to 6ft 1in-tall, with short greying hair and stubble on his face. He was wearing walking gear, including a dark blue Berghaus fleece and dark brown Gore-Tex trousers. The dog was described as a fat black Staffordshire bull terrier with grey patches.
