A scorching hot day attracted over four-hundred people to Bolsover District Council’s free Adventure Sports Festival.

The festival was held on Sunday July 14 at Pleasley Vale Outdoor Activity Centre and gave participants the chance to experience sports the great outdoors can offer including rock climbing, caving, abseiling, mountain biking and canoeing.

The six-hour event started at 10am, with participants taking to the water and enjoying a canoeing experience, before getting back on terra firm a and saddling up to tackle the hills and woodland surrounding Pleasley Vale on their mountain bikes.

Those with a head for heights had the chance to scale the 30ft climbing wall and to keep the adrenaline pumping participants then flung themselves into the Body Zorbs, and Laser Tag.

The three wheeled KMX Karts proved extremely popular as usual with participants racing against each around the circuit with running commentary.

For the more relaxed customer, they shot their way to success by trying out archery and mastering the specially created electronic orienteering course.

Participants also had the chance to meet the Limestone journeys team and take part in their heritage and countryside activities including stone carving, wood lathing and willow crafts.

The festival was organised by Bolsover District Council with support from the Limestone Journeys and Heritage Lottery Fund.
