A school chef from Bolsover has proved she is a class act after competing in a national competition.

Gail Boyce, catering supervisor at Bolsover C of E Junior School, picked up a silver award in the petit fours category – and was named Best in Class.

She was a finalist in the Finishing Touches contest organised by the Local Authority Caterers’ Association (LACA) and the Craft Guild of Chefs.

Coun Jim Coyle, Deputy Cabinet Member for Children and Younger Adults, said: “We have some very talented staff working in our schools and I’m pleased this has been recognised.

“Our school catering teams cook up delicious, healthy meals for thousands of children every day and this competition is a great chance for them to show off their full range of culinary skills.”
