Police are hunting a distraction burglar who claimed he was from Mansfield District Council, and got away with a £1,000 in cash.
The thief targeted the property on Eather Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse telling her he was there to cut her lawn.
During his visit on February 15 the male walked through the house to the rear garden while talking to the occupant about cutting both lawns.
When she declined, he left and she later found her red handbag, containing the money and a silver bracelet, had been taken.
The male is described as middle-aged wearing a cap, dressed in old clothes and claimed to be called John.
