A MUM-of-two died after her car collided with a tree in icy conditions, and inquest was told.

Hebran Clair Elson, of Hillside Walk, Blidworth, was killed when her Vauxhall Astra came off Weston Road near Egmanton on the morning of 9th December last year, two days before her 36th birthday.

It was heard that Mrs Elson suffered multiple injuries when the vehicle is thought to have spun off the road and hit the tree before falling 10 feet into a dyke.

Speaking at the inquest in Nottingham, forensic collision investigator Pc Colin Thomas said no other vehicle had been involved, speed had not been a factor, that she had been wearing her seat belt and that the car’s airbag had been activated.

It was also heard that a driver had died after hitting the same tree, almost three years ago to the day. The tree has since been cut down.

With Mrs Elson’s husband and brother present during the hearing, coroner Mairin Casey recorded a verdict of accidental death, saying: “It was a tragedy in my opinion, an unfortunate accident in the truest sense of the word.

“It’s desperately sad that this has happened and I extend my most sincere sympathies.”
