Crompton View Primary School in Bilsthorpe has been awarded a grant of £2,000 from E.ON’s Employee Community Fund, courtesy of E.ON employee Doug Mincher.
The award will pay for resources to improve literacy and numeracy in the outdoor learning environment as part of the school’s Outdoor Learning Project.
Doug Mincher, compliance and policy manager with E.ON, said: “My son attends Crompton View and I’m actively involved in supporting the school through fundraising and volunteering. I feel proud that E.ON has helped me to support our local school and benefit my local community.”
Sonia Hedges, assistant head at Crompton View Primary School, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Doug and E.ON for these funds which will make a big difference to the young children who will be using the outdoor learning resources as part of our Outdoor Learning Project.
“Research has shown the great benefits of outdoor learning and its effect on children’s achievement as well as having a positive impact on language, communication, focus and independence.The facilities will also benefit the wider community with open sessions from our local Sure Start group.”
The E.ON Employee Community fund invites applications from employees based in the UK for funding of up to £2,000 for charities and community organisations that support education projects or vulnerable consumers.
