A friend’s recent diagnosis has got three women on their bikes to raise cash for a charity which funds research into gynaecological cancers.

Emma Clark, from Kings Clipstone, Michelle Lawrence from Edwinstowe and Sam Wood from Worksop are preparing to cycle the Tissington Trail to raise money through sponsorship for the Eve Appeal.

The ladies will be taking to the trail and aim to do the return trek - a total distance of 26 miles on Saturday 27th July.

“We have already started fundraising through various activities,” said Michelle. “Emma and Sam recently held a cake sale at their work place which raised a magnificent £150 and secured additional sponsorship from work colleagues.”

They have also been selling Eve Appeal merchandise.

“We were so shocked with our friend’s diagnosis we wanted to do whatever we could to help and it seemed that fundraising for the Eve Appeal was a good place to start,” explained Emma. “Everyone has been very supportive by buying the charity pins as well as sponsoring our cycling day but any other help Chad readers can give us will be greatly appreciated.”

Robert Marsh, CEO of The Eve Appeal said: “We are really grateful to Emma, Michelle and Sam for this superb support – events like this are so important in spreading the word and raising awareness of gynaecological cancers whilst at the same time raising vital funds for this fundamentally important research.”

A Just Giving page has been created where people can donate direct and the trio have already had £130 pledged so far.

The Tissington Trail challenge will be followed by a car wash in September, held in conjunction with the Nottinghamshire Fire Service at Edwinstowe Fire Station.
