Big community effort to clean up Sutton’s Carsic Estate

The big event has been organised in response to fly tipping, untidy gardens and other estate issues.

On 15th October, councillors, locals and school children will all be pitching in to make the estate a cleaner and brighter place.

A dustbin lorry with two operatives will collect waste from the roadside on the estate while Ashfield District Council’s estates team will assist with placing items in the lorry and sweeping up.

Brierley Park Primary School are also lending a hand.

Around 12 to 15 children will help with a litter pick around the Oval area.

They will also be placing leaflets through tenants doors thanking those tenants who have maintained their gardens.

The school are also going to run a clean up project within the school for those pupils who will not be involved on the estate.

The children who are actively involved in the litterpick will receive a certificate and a goody bag at a mini presentation on the day, along with a photo with Ashley the Lion.

Representatives from the Police, Fire Brigade, CPO’s, Trevor Middleton (ADC) and his operatives, ADC’s Enforcement section and Nottinghamshire County Council. have also been invited.

The clean up will begin at 8am at the Community of Christ Church on the Oval. Mid morning break will be around 10am (at the church) and then a presentation with the school at around 12 noon until 1.00pm. Everyone is invited to lend a hand.
