Bestwoodresidents invited to have say

BESTWOOD Village residents are being given a chance to say which part of the parish they would like 500 proposed new homes to be built on.

A workshop on the subject of a masterplan for the future of Bestwood will be held next Thursday (14th November). It will take the form of a drop-in event at the village’s Community Centre from 3 pm to 7 pm.

The workshop is a follow-up to a similar event held earlier this year. They have been organised by URS, a planning and environmental consultancy.

URS spokesman Jesse Honey said: “Anyone can feel free to pop in at any time to contribute to the workshop.”

He added: “It goes without saying that there is a good deal of opposition to Gedling Borough Council’s housing plans for Bestwood.

“We are not able to challenge the figures but the workshops are at least offering an opportunity for local people to influence how the development is carried out.

“We want people to tell us which location they would like to see for the new homes, as well as making suggestions about the associated infrastructure.

“We will collate the opinions expressed and report back at a later stage to the residents.”
