During the week, 738 Ikano employees including Ikano Group CEO Lars Thorsen and Ikano Bank CEO Stefan Nyrinder clocked up 6,350 miles (10,219km), raising a grand total of £88,000 for the charity.

Rainbows provides respite, palliative and end-of- life care to more than 300 children and young people who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions in the East Midlands.

It also provides support to more than 300 bereaved families and more than 600 siblings but is dependent on donations to keep operations afloat.

Kate Golding, head of organisational giving at Rainbows, said: “The Ikano Bank team has supported us for years, and this latest donation is going to go a really long way. Health Week has certainly proved that they are the fittest, healthiest and most genergous co-workers in our eyes.

“The money donated will be spent on providing loving and compassionate care to all the children, young people and families that rely on Rainbows during the toughest times imaginable. Just £50 can help pay for a popular music therapy session for our children, so such a large donation will go a long way to helping us with all the facilities we offer here at Rainbows, like our hydrotherapy pool and minibus trips.”
