A bake sale will be held at the weekend to raise money for the Stand Up To Cancer charity.

James Taylor and the Revd June Palmer are organising the bake sale, which will be held at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Shirebrook, from 10am to noon on Saturday.

James's father, Michael Taylor, sadly died in December, 2016.

He was diagnosed in the September of that year with cancer of unknown primary. This is rare, affecting only five per cent of cancer patients.

Michael was diagnosed after a scan showed a large secondary growth which affected his heart and his lungs but the primary site could never be found. It was either too small to be detected or it had already been destroyed by the body but not before it had spread.

Rev Palmer also lost her friend, Ann Jennings, who died after suffering from uterine cancer in December, 2015.
