Bag snatched from mother with baby in Alfreton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman had her handbag snatched as she walked along a footpath in Alfreton with her young baby.

At around 12.30pm yesterday, Wednesday, 5th February, a 28-year-old woman was walking along a footpath off Birchwood Road, near Cotes Industrial Park, pushing a pram when she was approached by two men.

One of the men grabbed her handbag from her shoulder. The victim struggled to try to keep hold of her bag and fell to the floor.

The men ran off with the bag, which was later found dumped nearby.

Both men were white. One was around 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build, in his 20s or 30s and wearing a dark padded jacket and hooded jumper.

The other man was slightly taller and wearing dark clothing with a hood.
