An autistic teen who stole a bike lock from B&Q despite having enough money on him could not explain his actions, a court was told.

Daniel Vernon Phillip Cox (19) of High Hazles Drive, Huthwaite, was caught taking the £65 lock from the Sutton store.

Probation described the theft as a ‘very stupid decision to make’ and he could not provide any explanation for his actions. Magistrates gave him a 12-month supervision order and told to him to pay an £80 surcharge.

No order for costs was made because of £210 already outstanding from a previous case, while he also still has 90 hours of unpaid work to complete.
