Aussie theme for end of term event

Skills for Independent Living learners at Sutton Community Academy, ATTFE celebrated their learning achievements at a recent ceremony.

The Australian themed

celebration of learning event was held to celebrate students’ achievements during this academic year.

Skills for Independent Living offers a wide variety of courses to adults with additional needs.

The provision delivers education to learners attending day centres, living in residential homes and also to learners who access the academy independently.

The programme offers a wide variety of courses such as, film making skills, music and melodies , arts and crafts and cookery.

The Australian theme has been embedded into all courses since the beginning of the year where learners have enjoyed exploring the culture and facts about the country.

Charlotte Smith, curriculum administrator, said: “Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed learning about Australia, exploring its culture, animals and the Great Barrier Reef.

“Each year our celebration of learning event seeks to engage learners in exploring different countries and cultures to create a diverse learning experience.”

During the celebration learners performed songs, drama pieces and showcased the films they had made during their courses.
