Ashfield's MP honours victims of the Holocaust
Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero has pledged to continue to honour those killed in the Holocaust, as well as to pay tribute to survivors.
This Saturday is Holocaust Memorial Day, which marks the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz, site of the largest mass murder in history. And, in the lead-up to the day, Ms De Piero is signing the Holocaust Education Trust’s Book Of Commitment, saying it is “an important opportunity to reflect on the tragic events”.
Karen Pollock, chief executive of the Trust, said: “The Holocaust started not in the gas chambers, but with hate-filled words. We are grateful to Gloria for signalling a commitment to remembering the victims, as well as to challenging anti-semitism, prejudice and bigotry.”
