Ashfield School’s Vocal Ensemble was invited to perform at John Lewis in Victoria Centre for the second year running after impressing when they previously entertained shoppers.

The students, aged between 13 and 19, donned formal evening dress for the occasion and brought the crowds to a standstill as they sang a number of spine-tingling Christmas songs.

Accompanied on piano by Ashfield School’s Head of Music, Thomas Atkins, and led by Choir Director Elaine Guy, they are the only choir to be invited back to the store for a second Christmas.

They assembled near the store’s escalator which meant their voices filled the entire store with music and shoppers were craning their necks to see where the sound was coming from.

Anybody who wants to hear the choir perform can do so at a candle-lit Carol Concert at The Baptist Church on Forest Street, Kirkby, on Sunday (22nd December) from 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5, including light refreshments, and are available from Elaine Guy on 07545 592383.
