PLANS have been submitted to Ashfield District Council for a building extension at Kirkby’s Ashfield School.
Officials at Nottinghamshire County Council have applied for permission to build a two-storey extension at the existing Skills Centre, as well as landscaping works.
The extension will be at the back of the building and it will form a multi-purpose classroom on the ground floor, along with a post-16 library on the first floor.
At present, there is a large social area for the students - but the idea behind this project is to give them a quiet area in which to study.
It will include resources such as computers, books and private study areas.
The building project, which will cost around three quarters of a million pounds, is due to begin in the spring and is expected to be completed by September.
