ASHFIELD MP Gloria De Piero has praised Chad for launching our mammoth £750,000 fundraising campaign to purchase a new MRI scanner for King’s Mill Hospital.
Chad teamed up with hospital bosses two weeks ago to launch the life-changing initiative and has already raised more than £5,200 in the first week of the appeal.
Speaking during a cake bake sale at King’s Mill Hospital on Friday for the MRI appeal, Gloria paid tribute to the Chad.
“This is a brilliant campaign that I am really happy to support,”she said. “It is great to see that the money is coming in.
“This campaign is for the whole community and I am really pleased to see that the Chad has taken the lead on this. It shows that they are a caring as well as a campaigning newspaper. Thumbs up the Chad.
“This scanner can be a life-saver for many people and I hope businesses across the area can do their bit to support the campaign.”
More than £215 was raised for the appeal after reporters Catherine Allen, Stephen Thirkill and Molly Gibson served up a variety of tasty treats to patients, visitors and hospital staff throughout Friday morning.
Hospital bosses say the brand new scanner will revolutionise the service they offer and allow them to treat patients quicker, safer and allow them to diagnose illnesses at an earlier stage.
The new MRI scanner - a medical imaging technique used in radiology to visualize internal structures of the body in detail - is expected to be used over the next seven years to treat hundreds of thousands of patients across Mansfield and Ashfield.
