Arsonists are being warned about starting grass fires after a crew from Ashfield were called to Coxmoor Woods today, Thursday 22nd August.
They received the call at 3.48pm after the fire was started deliberately.
They found around 12 square metres of undergrowth alight and used a water backpack to bring it under control.
However, crew manager John Howard warned against the dangers of starting such fires.
He said: “We are concerned about those sorts of fires in warm weather because they can easily spread out of control.”
