Arson attacks damage landmarks on Mansfield’s Chesterfield Road

POLICE are investigating a spate of fires in the Chesterfield Road South area of Mansfield.

A conifer tree was set alight in the grounds of West Nottinghamshire College’s Chesterfield Road campus on 28th May.

Then the following day, between 4-4.30am, the cricket scoreboard on the recreation ground off Chesterfield Road South was also damaged by fire.

Between 2-3.30am on 31st May, tyres were set alight at the side of the National Tyre Services depot, also on Chesterfield Road South. The fire destroyed the tyres and caused damage to the main building.

In addition to these incidents, bins have twice been set on fire outside the Methodist church on the same road.
