Arrest after night time vehicle crime operation in Mansfield

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with at least three vehicle break-ins in Mansfield.

He was taken in to custody on Friday, October, 5, by officers investigating a recent increase in vehicle crimes. He was also arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal and being in possession with class A drugs.

Neighbourhood Inspector Nick Butler said: "We put this operation in place after we noticed an increase in vehicle crime, mainly at night. Many of my officers have been working double shifts so they can patrol through the night and this arrest was made in the early hours of this morning.

Officers will continue patrols through the night and residents are encouraged to stop them on the street and speak to them if they have any concerns.

Residents are also urged not to leave valuable items in vehicles at night and to report anything suspicious to 101.
