Armed response officers swoop on an address in Sutton
A man has been arrested of possession of a firearm after armed police swooped on his house in Sutton last night.
Officers were called to a house at Brierley Cottages, shortly after 10pm on Monday 11 July after receiving a call from the occupant suggesting he was in possession of a firearm.
A police spokesman said: “Armed response officers did attend the address, in accordance with national protocols for attendance at such incidents, and following negotiation with a man at the scene an arrest was made for possession of a firearm.”
A replica firearm was recovered from the address.
No one was injured in the incident.
A 56-year-old man remains in custody this morning.
