£4m new road will lead to 2,000 jobs
The road, funded by Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC), will act as the main entrance for the new Harrier Park Hucknall development off the A611 and for vehicles accessing the Rolls Royce site, which in turn will reduce traffic on the local network.
NCC supported the link road from its capital programme, and Galliford Try was the main contractor.

Hide AdCouncillor Alan Rhodes, leader of NCC, said: “The new link road and associated environmental improvements are very impressive and I am delighted that we have been able to deliver the scheme on time and on budget.
“Many congratulations go to VIA, who have managed this scheme on behalf of the county council and to the contractor, Galliford Try for delivering it and even more so, for their imminent award under the Considerate Contractors Scheme.
“This is a great example of the county council playing an enabling role for development, new jobs and economic growth through investment in infrastructure.”
Coun Diana Meale, chair of the Economic Development Committee, added: “It’s a great endorsement of the scheme and the wider Nottinghamshire economy that there has already been a high level of firm interest from businesses in Harrier Park and we expect to see the first of the 2,000 jobs being provided soon.”
Harrier Park’s name was chosen because in 1953 the world’s first vertical take-off and landing took place at Hucknall on a Rolls Royce Thrust Measuring Rig, known as the Flying Bedstead.
