Appeal by cat rescue unit to adopt animals

The unit is currently full to capacity with our feline friends who need a more permanent home.

“It can be really rewarding to own a cat because they tend to be very affectionate and often make ideal pets,” said a spokesman for the AARU.

“All cats will be home-checked prior to adoption. Kittens should be kept indoors until they are neutered at around six months.”

One cat, named Bugsy, was collected as a stray by the Unit in November 2012.He was in a very neglected and poor state of health.

“After lots of care and trips to the vet, he has now become a very happy, affectionate and healthy cat,” added the spokesman.

“All he needs now is someone to take care of him and give him a home.”

As his name suggests, a cat named Cuddles is adorable, playful and very inquisitive and sociable, while Isaac, a long-haired moggy with a Persian look about him, is friendly and likes to be with people.

“Cats should have supervised and limited access outside at first and never be allowed to stay out at night as they are vulnerable to many dangers. Sorry but we do not home on or near busy roads.”
