Andy’s quest gets backing of celebs

Andy Callaghan Wetton received messages of support from the likes of David Walliams and Dick and Dom on Twitter at the weekend as he ran the Worksop marathon.

The Wynndale Primary School teacher has so far ran 540 miles with 460 to go until he completes his charity challenge in hope of raising £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

He said: “It was a windy race on Sunday but I am now a full three weeks ahead of schedule.

“It was great passing the 500 mile mark. I’ve had lots of support from public and celebs such as David Walliams, Dick and Dom and even Mushy from ‘Educating Yorkshire.”

The teacher is yet to run the Keyworth Turkey Trot on 8th December, the Wilmslow half marathon on 23rd March 2014 and the London marathon on 13th April.

Andy has been helped by Stikabox and Browns Bar in Mansfield who donated new T-shirts to help him get people donating. So far the father-of-two has raised £1,560 but is asking Chad readers to boost his total. By the end of his challenge he will have run 40 marathons with around eight million strides. That is 9,000 minutes of running and 200,000 calories.
