Alleyways closed in Kirkby

BOSSES at Nottinghamshire County Council will consider introducing more gating orders to close off footpaths that have been targeted by troublemakers in future after the introduction of a temporary order in Kirkby.

Woburn Avenue and Priory Grove, on the Coxmoor estate, had been closed under temporary traffic regulation orders for over a year - and the gating orders were approved by the council’s Rights of Way Committee last month.

The orders were made because other methods had been ineffective in tackling incidents such as the theft of hanging baskets and bedding plants, damage to vehicles, littering and intimidating behaviour.

The gates can accessed by the emergency services and must be reviewed within two years by law.
