Alfreton Golf Club purchase life-saving defibrillator

Alfreton Golf Club has bought a new defibrillator following a successful fundraising competition.

The golf event was organised by club member Stewart Walters and means the new life-saving equipment is available for the benefit of all members, staff and in excess of 14,000 visitors each year.

The original idea came from the Alfreton and District Branch of the British Heart Foundation who held an Emergency Life Support Awareness evening at the club.

The club’s application for a defibrillator became a reality with the help of Sophie Jardine, fund raising volunteer manager for the British Heart Foundation.

In March a training session was held at the club provided by Peter Winson of the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

The session covered how to assess people who collapse and need urgent attention due to possible heart attack for which the defibrillator could save a life.
