Firefighters from Alfreton were called to a number of incidents including a garden fire out of control, and a rubbish fire.

The crews were called out shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, 9th June, to Church Street in Riddings following reports of a fire in a garden that had got out of control. They used a hose reel jet to put it out and left minutes later.

They were called out again yesterday, Wednesday 10th June, to reports of a fire outside on Venture Crescent on the Nix’s Hill Industrial Estate. They arrived before 11am to find a small amount of rubbish had been torched.

The crew was then called at 7.47pm on Wednesday following reports of smoke coming from a wooded area off Hardwick Close in Blackwell. A small bonfire was found to be burning when they arrived which they quickly extinguished.
