Nominations are now being invited for this year’s Active Ashfield Sports Awards.
Ashfield folk are being invited to nominate a sports coach, volunteer or team based in Ashfield who deserves to be rewarded and recognised for their achievements.
Councillor Jim Aspinall, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing said: “This is a great opportunity for the talented sports people in Ashfield to be recognised for their outstanding achievements
“It is also a chance to say thank you and well done to the people who work so hard behind the scenes to ensure there are so many different opportunities for people to get active in Ashfield.”
The event will take place at the Festival Hall Leisure Centre in Kirkby on Friday November 20, by invitation only.
All nominations (apart from Service to Sport) are for achievements between October 1 2014 and September 30 2015.
Awards will be presented for Juniors: Team, Sportsperson, Volunteer, Disabled Sportsperson, Primary School Team and Secondary School Team.
For those aged 18 and over, the award categories are for Team, Coach, Volunteer, Disabled Sportsperson and Sportsperson.
The Young coach of the Year is for a coach under the age of 25.
Accredited clubs can be nominated for the Club of the Year and for people who have dedicated many years of their life to sport in Ashfield there is a special ‘Service to Sport’ Award.
The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 30th September 2015.
