The Audiology Service specialises in assessing, diagnosing and treating hearing and balance problems in both adults and children and the team of 17 run the service from both King’s Mill and Newark Hospitals.

It was assessed by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service and found to reach the Improving Quality in Physiological Diagnostic Services (IQIPS) accreditation standard in relation to adult hearing services.

The service sees over 23,000 patients each year and only three other NHS Trusts have achieved this accreditation standard.

Members of the team were required to complete an online assessment and submit evidence of the standards of service they provide.

They then received a visit from a team of assessors in July, who came to review first-hand the services provided for patients.

Following a review of the submitted data and the assessor visit, the Trust has been awarded UKAS accreditation against the IQIPS standard.

Heather Day-Lascelles, Head of Audiology, said: “It is excellent news for our patients that the hearing services they receive have been assessed in this way, as it means patients can be confident they are receiving the best possible audiology care. It also reflects the hard work put in by our Audiology Team to ensure the quality of the service we deliver.”
