Academy awarded Round Square school status

Staff and students from Samworth Church Academy have recently returned from the Swiss Alps where they were presented with Round Square Global membership by His Royal Highness King Constantine.

(Round Square representative) and principle Mr Barry Found, spent the week at Aiglon College.

Round Square is a worldwide network of innovative schools in 40 countries across five continents. The Round Square approach guides students into becoming well-rounded, informed, responsible, principled and confident global citizens.

Mr Found said: “The conference provided a time for pupils and staff to take a moment to consider how we can all contribute to making a difference for the greater good.

“Our student leadership team came back with lots of ideas.”

Speakers at the international event included Sir Jackie Stewart, Meagan Fallone of Barefoot College, India, Ben Saunders, a British polar explorer and Colonel Al Wordon, one of the astronauts who travelled to the moon in Apollo 15.
