'Abandoned' former Sutton pub could be turned into apartments
The planning application sent to Ashfield District Council proposes to change an unused public house, formally known as the Shakespeare Inn, on High Pavement, into a six one-bedroom apartments.
The former pub is said to be in a “state of disrepair" and currently has its doors and windows boarded up.

Hide AdDirect Commercials Ltd who submitted the plans has said the current external features of the building including the Tudor styling will remain.
The scale of the building will also remain unchanged.
Papers attached to the application state: “The Existing Building is currently an abandoned Public house with a mixture of boarded up and blocked up openings.
“Due to the building being vacant, it has fallen into a state of disrepair.”
The apartments will be large enough to fit a double bed and will have their own bathrooms.
No parking will be provided.

Hide AdThe application also stated: "The appearance of the building will use existing openings where possible with minimal changes. The current features such as the Tudor styling to the front elevation is to remain along with the stone to the existing
main entrance."
A decision on the changes is currently pending.
A decision on whether the planning will be passed is likely to be decided in May by Ashfield District Council.
