A hair-raising charity effort

Eleven glamorous staff from Hair and Beauty at Slimming World, a salon based at Slimming World head office on Clover Nook Road, were challenged to do something daring and different to their hair for the day as part of the national #BadHairDay campaign, run annually by the children’s charity.

The stunning salon team wore weird and wonderful wigs for the duration of the day, and encouraged their clients to support the campaign and donate their loose change to the cause.

Salon manager Victoria Hallam said: “Going to work with a silly hairstyle would be a difficult task for most women, and it’s even more challenging for those who work in our industry. However, when I first asked the girls to take part in Great Ormond Street’s ‘Bad Hair Day’ campaign, they all said they’d love to take part and raise money for such a worthwhile cause so I was really proud of them.

“Our salon really prides itself on offering high-quality, luxury treatments and products by talented and professional staff, so having the team looking a little less gorgeous than usual – actually I think they all look fab – didn’t matter at all. And they certainly didn’t give any of our clients a bad hair day.”

All the money raised from Bad Hair Day 2016 events across the country will support Great Ormond Street Hospital’s work to make a vital difference to children from across the UK who are suffering from the rarest, most complex and often life-threatening conditions. It will do this by helping to fund pioneering new research, state-of-the-art equipment and Great Ormond Street Hospital’s redevelopment.

Everyone is welcome at the Hair and Beauty at Slimming World salon, which is based on site at Slimming World head office and open to the public.
