A planning application to build up to 40 new houses-plus retirement accommodation on land off Longdale Lane (pictured) has been submitted to Gedling Borough Council.

A second phase is also proposed, but developers will need to make a separate future application to the council if they wish to go ahead.

According to the planning application, the first phase of the build will cover an initial 2.3 hectares of land, including around 200m of frontage on Longdale Lane .

The second phase would cover a further 1.3 hectares, if given consent by the authority in future.

A public exhibition is set to take place on Monday, 16th September at Ravenshead Leisure Centre, between 2-7pm.

Developers have also undertaken consultation with members of Ravenshead Parish Council, who have not yet formally stated any objections.

The area was classified as Green Belt until 2005, when the law changed.

The land, made up of a several fields and a small area of woodland is now classified as ‘white land’ - safeguarding it from ‘inappropriate development’.

“The intention was that this land would not be developed in the forseeable future, but should remain available for development at a later date,” planning documents state.

In July, Chad revealed that developers also hope to build a Sainsbury’s store in the village.
