About 60 B&Q stores are to close over the next two years.

The DIY chain has a significant presence across Derbyshire, including in Chesterfield, Alfreton and Buxton.

It is not yet clear if any Derbyshire stores will shut.

In a statement, B&Q owner Kingfisher said: “B&Q can adequately meet customer needs from fewer stores.”

Kingfisher also announced a 15.2 per cent fall in pre-tax profit to £644m for 2014.
