The musical theatre students have formed a choir to raise cash for Little Princess Trust and performed their first concert at Mansfield’s Making It! Discovery Centre last week.

Going under the name of the Create Christmas Choir, named after the college’s new performing arts centre, the choir used it as a warm-up before taking their act out into the community over the festive period.

The Little Princess Trust is a national charity which provides real-hair wigs for young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and other medical conditions.

Choir member 16-year-old student Frances Savage lost her own hair after developing alopecia when she was nine and has had two wigs provided through the charity.

The former All Saints’ student told Chad: “Young people who suffer from hair loss are provided with two synthetic wigs each year by the NHS, but they look quite artificial and feel a bit plasticy.

“Real-hair wigs are very expensive and when I was nine I probably wouldn’t have been able to afford my own wig, so I’m really grateful to the Little Princess Trust and I really hope to be able to give something back as they really helped with my confidence.

“I was really happy when my friends and colleagues chose the Little Princess Trust as our chosen charity. .

“It’s great we’re raising money to help other children going through what I went through.”

The choir is now available for Christmas bookings by organisations or community groups staging festive events.

It will perform free of charge in return for the opportunity to raise funds for the Little Princess Trust through casual donations on the day, the college said.
