UK tour launch for classic American drama A Raisin in the Sun

Ground-breaking American play A Raisin in the Sun begins its UK tour in Sheffield this week.

The play, written by Lorraine Hasberry on the cusp of the civil rights era, tackles justice, discrimination and family tensions.

This powerful drama centres on the Youngers who are expecting a cheque for $10,000. Driven to conflict as they encounter issues of inequality, housing and lack of opportunity, the play acts as a warning to anyone who measures happiness and personal worth in capital gain.

A Raisin in the Sun is at the Crucible Theatre studio from January 28 to February 13.
