ALDI to pay 'amazing' staff 10 per cent bonus for 'tireless' efforts

ALDI will pay a 10 per cent bonus to its “amazing” staff in recognition of their ‘tireless’ efforts throughout the coronavirus pandemic so far.

The supermarket said workers in its store and distribution team will receive the bonus on hours worked from 9 March.

A short statement said: “Aldi has today announced enhanced pay for its amazing colleagues, who have been working tirelessly throughout this extremely busy time.”

It has also announced dedicated shopping times for emergency workers.

The supermarket will open for browsing between 9.30am and 10am on Sundays for key workers in the NHS, police and fire service. Workers will need to show their ID to gain entry.

They will also be given priority when checkouts open at 10am.

All nappies and paper products, including kitchen and toilet roll, are restricted to two items per customer. All other products will remain restricted to four items per customer, with the exception of some non-food products.
