A heartbreaking bus tragedy was among the stories carried in the Chad back in 1964

Toddler killed: A four-year-old died after he was hit by a double decker bus in Mansfield Woodhouse. The tot had been in the kitchen with his father before the father walked into the living room to fetch a blanket to put over his son but he had gone when he returned.

It is thought the tragic toddler had wandered out of the property gate.

Festive record: There were record number of parcels and letters that were processed through the sorting offices in Mansfield in Christmas 1963, it was revealed.

More than 1,281,000 parcels and letters were delivered from 17th to 29 December. The Post Office had taken on extra staff to anticipate the rush.
