KIA’S high-value SUV, the Sorento, has undergone substantial revisions and is now available to order in UK dealerships.
In a simplified range, all models now have permanent all-wheel drive system and are powered by a revised version of Kia’s 2.2-litre CRDi turbodiesel engine.
An all-new platform and a more rigid bodyshell with additional front, side and rear structures boost torsional stiffness and crash performance, helped by the use of 25% ultra-high-strength steels in the body construction.
This should ensure New Sorento maintains the five-star Euro-NCAP safety rating awarded to the previous model, despite increasingly tougher test conditions. Major changes have also been made to the suspension, steering and brakes for improved straight-line stability and ride comfort including high-performance dampers at all four corners, larger suspension bushes and longer trailing arms at the rear.
A new exhaust-gas recirculation system has helped New Sorento achieve class-leading fuel economy and CO2 emissions of 47.9 mpg and 155 g/km (manual).
New Sorento accelerates from 0-60 mph in 9.4 seconds (manual) or 9.5 seconds (auto), and all versions have a top speed of 118 mph.
Prices for the Kia start at £26,495 for the KX-1 2.2 CRDi rising to £35,095 for the KX-3 2.2 CRDi.
