FirstBuy makes home cheaper

MANSFIELD-based homebuilder, Rippon Homes, is giving local homebuyers the chance to buck the national trend by making home ownership more affordable at The Hawthorns development in Bilsthorpe, where you can buy a new home with a deposit of just £6,248.

The latest figures from Halifax show that the average age of the first time buyer in the East Midlands is 27 - but Rippon is hoping to help those who want to get on the ladder earlier on in life by offering a selection of its homes with a new Government-backed scheme.

At The Hawthorns on Eakring Road, the housebuilder has received an allocation of the Government’s FirstBuy funding which was introduced in a bid to make home ownership more affordable.

With this scheme, eligible purchasers can initially secure a new Rippon home with a mortgage for just 75 per cent of the asking price and with a deposit of only five per cent.

The remaining 20 per cent is funded by a deferred loan from Rippon and the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Serena Bishop, sales adviser at The Hawthorns and the company’s resident FirstBuy expert, said: “The properties at The Hawthorns represent excellent value for money but with FirstBuy, getting that vital first step on to the property ladder becomes even more affordable.”
