Five year old Scarlet Milnes and her cousins Hanna and Ruby Turton paid their own tribute to the town’s fallen soldiers this week by sprucing up the War Memorial and the Mansfield Heroes Memorial at Carr Bank Park.
Proud dad Michael Milnes 28, said: “As part of their homework, the girls had to do an act of kindness.
“W decided on the war memorial at Carr Bank. They cleaned the oldest one first and then the newer one in the park.
“We are all very proud of them.”
Rebecca Turton mum of Hanna 7 and Ruby 11 added: “They spent an hour cleaned all the plaques and the bench. We took a carrier bag full of leaves away. It shows appreciation of the people who aren’t here and teaches the kids respect.”
