Culture, sport, restaurants, holidays, social gatherings and more have all been badly hit by the Covid-19 emergency, which means the calendar has been in shreds since March.
But there is much to look forward to in 2021 if, as is hoped, the roll-out of vaccines works effectively and public confidence grows.

5. Watch runners beat their personal best
Mansfield 10k and 5k starts in the Market Square and loops through the town centre. It was started in 2017 and since then has been a popular event. 2021's date has not yet been confirmed. Photo: Eric Gregory
The Robin Hood Festival in Sherwood Forest was cancelled in 2021 but usually there are live re-enactments along with music, dancing, storytelling, sword-fighting, archery and adventures with the outlaws.
