5. Bawtry Forest, Retford
Bawtry Forest Christmas Trees, which can be found on the Great North Road near Doncaster, is the largest supplier of locally grown, premium Christmas trees in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. Species include Norway spruce, lodgepole pine and Nordmann fir, and they come in different shapes and sizes, up to 25 feet tall.

6. Egmanton Christmas Trees, Newark
Yew Tree Farm, nestled in the village of Egmanton, near Newark, is home to some of the finest real Christmas trees in the county. Egmanton has built a reputation as one of the finest Christmas tree growers. Every one is carefully hand-pruned and tended, and the company, which prides itself on its personal service, stocks only freshly cut trees.

7. Thompson Brothers Greengrocer, Nottingham
This greengrocer's store on Hadyn Road in Carrington, Nottingham is renowned for stocking some of the finest real Christmas trees in the county. Nordmann firs range from £20 for a four-foot tall tree to £35 for en eight-foot tall variety. Traditional Scottish spruce trees range from £25 to £60 for one reaching 14 feet in height.

8. Notcutts Wheatcroft, Welbeck
The Dukeries Notcutts garden centre at Welbeck is open every day until Christmas to help you choose your real tree. Experts are on hand, and trees can even be delivered to your home for a small charge. Select from freshly cut trees to potted ones that can be planted in the garden after the festive season and will bring joy for years to come.
