Acoustic ace Martin?is ready to rock Roots

One of the “finest acoustic guitar players in the world” is preparing to bring his skills to the stage in Doncaster.

Martin Simpson is the next act to perform at the town’s Roots Music Club.

A club spokesman said: ““There is no doubt that after 35 years as a professional musician Martin is, right now, better than ever.

“Widely acknowledged as one of the finest acoustic and slide guitar players in the world, his interpretations of traditional songs are masterpieces of storytelling.

“His solo shows are intense, eclectic, spellbinding and deeply moving.”

During his 45-year career – the 62-year-old dropped out of college to become a full-time musician in 1970 – he has collaborated with a string of top musicians, including Jackson Browne, Martin Carthy and Steve Miller.
