The Mansfield swim star stormed her way to two gold medals in Beijing, to the delight of our town.
She was the first woman to win swimming gold for Great Britain since Anita Lonsbrough in 1960 and the first British swimmer to win more than one gold medal at a single Olympic Games since Henry Taylor won three in 1908.
She returned to Mansfield to a hero’s welcome and an open-top bus tour of the town before being welcomed home by thousands of cheering fans in Mansfield market place.
She was also presented with gold Jimmy Choos by Mayor Tony Eggington.
Have a look through our gallery and see if you can spot yourself in the crowd.
